Details 29....

More baby steps today..... removed the header collectors to trade with Crites for a set without the flanges (will be installing stainless steel V band flanges). The bands are for 3 1/2" tubing and have a tongue on one piece and a groove on the mating piece to insure exact alignment...

made sure the headers were clearing the steering box as well as the power steering lines....

and installed rub guards on the parking brake cables.

Until next time....

15 x 10 slot mags

Here's a couple pics of the ET 15x10's and next to a Cragar 15x10. It's interesting that the Cragar isn't as deep to the first step and then has much more dish in the center compared to the ET which is deeper to the step with less dish in the center......

Here they are next to a 15x8.5 American Racing and a 14x6 OEM Ford slot mag....

Details.... part 28

Not a lot of progress to show this weekend.... located parts for cleaning, detailing and future installation, got the front sway bar links tightened, checked the header clearance around the fuel lines and rerouted them slightly...

determined course of action for header collector flanges and reducer to H pipe routing...

measured the Flowmaster mufflers to figure out mounting configuration, inserted the rubber floor plugs and sealed and installed the floor drain caps.

OH.... and took a few pictures of the monster transmission jack!

Stay tuned........

Details.... part 27

Thanks to my best buddy lending a helping hand, another productive weekend!

I first trimmed the padding back around the transmission crossmember mount...

the transmission was mounted onto a vintage transmission floor jack (I forgot to take a picture of THAT monster!) and then we jacked the transmission up and into position (WITH THE HEADERS IN PLACE!!) mounted to the engine and installed the crossmember...

We then crawled out from under the car and got the front suspension all assembled and checked for any interference with the headers thru the steering range of motion... ALL CLEAR!

finished putting the rear brakes together...

and started doing the front brakes until it was discovered I forgot to order the grease seals for the front rotors.

I also noticed how well the interior turned out from my rookie spray job....

She is getting closer to heading back to the crew at Far From Factory...

but Ford Carlisle 2016 isn't looking like a reality.

Until next installment....

Details.... part 26

Well after getting snowed out last weekend, I made some more progress Saturday!

Covered the frame rails with a Harbor Freight moving pad and trimmed out around the engine frame mounts...

Got the engine set into the car...

the engine side of the AC firewall housing mounted and the headers installed to check for clearance issues.

Happily there's not a problem at the evaporator housing like I was afraid of...

but I think the only spot that's questionable is the clearance at the steering box...

I'm not 100% sure if there's an issue or not... the engine may be tipped back just a bit because the transmission isn't attached and supported by the tailshaft mount. May have to pull the engine back out, hang the transmission and reinstall to confirm if there's a problem or not. FUN, FUN, FUN!

Stay tuned!
