Some Tomato progress this weekend..... proportioning valve and driver side
brake line installed...
front control arm mounting slots elongated on both
side for additional chamber adjustment with raised rear end stance...
and upper control arm bushing
cup rubber burnt out...
and cup blasted along with the replacement core
support shim and cone nut the platers misplaced. Brought them home to
polish before dropping back off at the platers as well as the front
upper control arms, pivot shafts and bushings to get ready to drop off
at the machine shop to have them reassembled on Monday.
Until next time.....

Control arm assembly and details..... part 20
Haven't posted any Torino progress pics for a couple weeks but I have
been tinkering a bit in the garage at home on some of the smaller
items... got the brake proportioning valve reattached to the mounting
bracket...
cleaned and conditioned the rubber radiator isolators...
and mounted the ones in the upper radiator support brackets...
clear coated the hood latch assembly (not sure yet if I'm crazy about the natural patina??)...
cleaned the floor shifter neutral start safety switch and gear indicator (need a new pointer and blue filter)...
Saturday at the dealership (after two weeks away!) I got the bushings pressed into the front and rear lower control arms...
clear coated the jack post...
and painted the exhaust hangers.
Sadly I junked one of the upper rear control arm bushings and cups so that will prevent the rear end getting hung until I get the replacements. ##@$$!

Details.... part 19
Not as much progress today as I had hoped. All the bushing cups didn't
pass muster and a few had to be redone so that kinda put the brakes on
the control arm assembly, but I did get 7 outta 8 ready to be pressed
into the rear arms...
I also got the jack base, handle and the hood latch support bracketry all painted...
and modified my LARES 203 steering coupler to accept the OEM deadman bracket...

Until next week...

Front Assembly and Details..... part 18
Another somewhat productive day.... suspension components laid out
awaiting bushing cups from platers...
applied new rubber to the motor mounts...
steering box, crossmember brake line and front bumper supports mounted back on car...
air cleaner components blasted...

motor mounts, oil coolers, vacuum canisters, fender supports, license plate brackets, radiator supports and front brake ducts laid out awaiting assembly and battery tray, horns, miscellaneous brackets and headlight buckets painted...
battery tray, horns, miscellaneous brackets and headlight buckets painted...
and new bumpers wrapped up for safe keeping until time for install.
Hopefully the bushing cups will be done this week so next weekend I can press in the polyurethane bushings and the get them pressed into the various control arms so I can get the rearend hung and the Torino pulled out of the blast booth.
Stay tuned....

Details... part 17
Well a lot of little stuff in the works this week.... firstly, dropped off a bunch of parts at the platers to get all prettied up...
and also finished restoring the hood bumper.
Got a lot of the smaller ancillary items painted Saturday. The front bumper mounts...
radiator supports...
steering box, oil cooler, battery tray...
power steering cooler...
licence plate brackets...
lower fender braces, motor mounts, vacuum canisters and battery mount strap.

Started blasting the air cleaner base but the inside of the air clearner body must be coated with some kind of super stuff material because I could not get the material to cut loose using NEW MEDIUM and working for 15 minutes with this to show for my efforts...
I also got the suspension arms cleaned, staged and covered awaiting the arrival of the bushing cups back from the platers so I can finish pushing the new polyurethane bushings and sleeves into the cups get them pressed into the control arms and reassembled on the car.
Stay tuned............
